Hosting limits

Publishing (Fly hosting / LIVE URL) is available on Free and Pro, gated by the shared credit balance. Free hard-pauses when credits hit zero (no Free top-ups). Pro can buy more credits. Free can also use Neon database and app storage in Preview and on LIVE apps (storage capped at 1 GB on Free). Neon pauses compute when idle so tables stay across short sandbox sleep; abandoned Free Preview infra may be cleaned up after ~14 days if there is no LIVE deployment. Published apps and attached databases spend from the same credit balance as chat. Usage UI still labels this spend as Run.

Included

Run usage covers published compute and database usage. Bandwidth is included — we don’t bill egress. A background meter samples LIVE apps about every 5 minutes.

Empty balance

When the credit balance hits zero:
  • Chat / build is blocked
  • LIVE apps pause — Fly machines are stopped; your database, files, and the published URL are kept
  • Preview + terminal stay available
  • Free users upgrade or wait for the daily grant; Pro users can top up
You’ll get a low-credit email when balance is very low and a LIVE app is still running (at most once per day). If a published app pauses because credits hit zero, we email you; when credits come back and it goes live again, we email you that it’s back. Free users who used yesterday’s credits also get a morning email when today’s 10 are ready.

Practical advice

  • Prefer scale-to-zero friendly apps
  • Cache static assets
  • Top up or upgrade before a marketing launch if you expect traffic
